 <title>$300,000 IHBN funding approved by Senate Committee on Appropriations for FY 2007</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The next step for this bill is passage by full Senate, then conference committee with House. Late July or early August or September vote on final bill to fund IHS for FY 2007.  The House did not include the $300,000 in their bill so it will be up to Tribes to lobby to support this funding in conference committee.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;INDIAN HEALTH SERVICES&lt;br /&gt;
Appropriations, 2006 $2,692,099,000&lt;br /&gt;
Budget estimate, 2007 2,822,500,000&lt;br /&gt;
House allowance 2,830,136,000&lt;br /&gt;
Committee recommendation 2,835,544,000 &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Committee recommends $2,835,544,000 for Indian health services, an increase of $143,445,000 over the current year enacted level, $13,044,000 over the budget request and $5,408,000 over the House allowance. Changes from the budget request include increases of $32,744,000 for the urban health program and $300,000 for the Indian Health Board of Nevada, and a decrease of $20,000,000 in fixed costs to provide $104,198,000 for Federal/tribal pay increases, medical inflation and population growth.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;March 30, 2006 letter from IHS Area Director Don Davis to IHBN rejects NV Tribes&#039; request for funding for IHBN.  The Director ignores IHBN&#039;s ability to increase funding for services in Nevada with a modest investment by IHS.  The Area Office provided none of the operational funding for IHBN&#039;s first year of existence yet cites its support for IHBN.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Pandemic Flu information for Nevada Tribes</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The State of Nevada has indicated to IHBN that it will receive funding to assist with Pandemic Flu Planning.&lt;br /&gt;
The attached budget and workplan outlines a plan to support tribes with travel funds and staff support include high level consulting services for the period April 1, 2006 to August 31, 2006.  It is anticipated that a proposal more focused on specific(service unit or tribe) health program needs will follow for the next funding cycle that begins September 1, 2006.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The IHBN project will support any tribal proposal funded by the State of Nevada.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Attachment has IHBN proposal and IHBN budget that was submitted to state of NV on March 29, the Pandemic Flu government checklist, and the HHS guidance (for funding from $100 million approved) for states (state deadline is April 8).&lt;/p&gt;
